Thanks for accepting me into this group. I've only recently discovered that I have Hargadon ancestors after having my DNA done on Ancestry. I recently met up with a second cousin in Ireland (I'm from England, he's from Massachusetts) and we are still trying to piece together our connection. Not 100% sure but I think my great(s) grandparents were John Hargadon and Mary Brown from Sligo. Not 100% sure but I think my great(s) grandparents were John Hargadon and Mary Brown from Sligo. Unfortunately at the moment this is about all the information I have to go on as my research is still in its infancy. Does anybody here know are all the Sligo Hargadons related to each other (albeit distantly)?
Irish Timestag:hargadon.ning.com,2013-06-24:596027:Topic:184272013-06-24T17:26:32.080ZCheri Lee Fox Smithhttps://hargadon.ning.com/profile/CheriLeeFoxSmith

The Irish Times web site has an interesting map of Ireland showing the counties where the Hargadon name is most frequent and different spellings of the name. (19th century)

My mother, Margaret Feeney (1907-1995) was the daughter of Joseph Feeney (1881-1913) and Ellen Hargadon who died 4/10/44.

Upon the death of her father Joseph in 1913 Margaret was placed with and raised by an uncle John Hargadon who I am trying to identify. I think they lived in Wayne PA. He was a lovable man whom my mother spoke very highly of. My mother had a wonderful way about her which I am sure came through from this wonderful man.

We had our informal cousin reunion last week at Karen and Frank Murphy's home. It was great to see those who came, and we missed those who couldn't!

Huge shout-outs to everyone for coming together (driving, flying!), to Chip for coordinating the final details, and to Karen and Frank for hosting. It was very fun to get together--we'll do it again!

In the year 2000, I held a Hargadon family reunion in Delaware in the US. At the time several branches of Hargadons, mostly from the Philadelphia and New Jersey areas, attended. It was a lot of fun, and we figured out A LOT of the family connections--which ultimately led me to finding the family farmhouse outside of Sligo this past summer.

I'd like to consider planning another larger Hargadon family gathering--both for the purpose of getting to know others and to continue researching how the family lines fit together. There are, as I'm aware, groups of Hargadons in Louisville, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Boston, Canada, Australia, England, and Ireland. I'm sure I'm missing some!

1. Is anyone planning any upcoming reunions that you'd like to let others know about?

2. If I planned a larger reunion on the East Coast of the US in July of 2012, are there others who'd want to help make this happen?

3. Is anyone bold enough to try and hold one in Ireland?

Let me know what you think by replying here. :)
