This handsome young lad is my Dad, before he embarked for England where he trained for the Normandy Invasion. He landed with the 29th Infantry Division on Omaha Beach in the early hours of 6 June 1944. The opening scene in Saving Private Ryan tells the story of that horrific invasion.
